Church of San Nicolò dei Mendicoli

The church of San Nicolò dei Mendicoli, among the oldest in Venice, has always been the home of the Nicolotti, a community of residents in the western part of the city, mostly fishermen and craftsmen. The church, rebuilt in the 13th century, is rich in works of art, and was renovated at the end of the 16th century with a sumptuous array of wooden statues and canvases in the claristorium.
